Question: Discuss about the Purchasing and Supply Management. Answer: Introduction There are three major issues related to procurement, which are as follows; training and employee development, management of the global sourcing, and ensuring cross-function and collaboration. The details of these points are further explained in the preceding section. Three Main Points Training and development process is one of the key issue of the procurement in most of the corporate performance, as it renders accurate selection of vendors, focus on quality aspect, and render cost considerations. It focusses on providing the opportunities for professionals through face-to face workshops and also e-learning methods (Grudinschi, Sintonen Hallikas, 2014). Global sourcing is the primary objective of the procurement process that not only reduces the bargaining power of supplier, but also helps in managing cost aspect within the scope of material procurement. This process involves the effective management of the global set-up and the global sourcing offices. The process also involves the linkage between headquarters and global sourcing offices (Roberta Pereira, 2014). The procure process within the organisation involves collaboration across the corporate departments, such that complete set of requirements can be accumulated and production or servicing function of company can be effectively managed (Grudinschi, Sintonen Hallikas, 2014). It has been seen that procurement not only work with the quality management and engineering department but also with the marketing and sales department for fulfilling the requirement of the management. Conclusion Based on the above analysis, it is learned that the training given to employees are related to issues like selecting vendors based on cost effectiveness, previous track records and quality and time required for suppling materials to the company. It defines the procedure of work done by the global sourcing offices by the non-procurement functions.
